I offer premium cowhide from Wickett and Craig and Hermann Oak. My exotic hides are lawfully imported or lawfully culled/processed in the US. They are premium grade but I keep my price point affordable so everyone has a chance to own a holster with a bit of panache.
The vege tanned kangaroo is great for lining and for a thin leather to go over the steel band for most clamshell design holsters. It is not meant to "reinforce" the holster or beef up the mouth for extensive training.
Please note. Lining a AIWB/IWB holster will make the holster thicker. This may not be for everyone. To keep an IWB/AIWB thin, but with the slick side of the leather against the gun, I recommend rough side out cowhide. I will not line a holster with pig suede or doe hide. Suede type hides can, and will collect dirt, dust and sand. I have seen it happen to a brand new, blued Colt Government Model.  Years ago, a true master holster maker told me the only way to keep wear down on a gun is to leave it in the safe, in a silicone sock. However, slick hides will help slow wear down.
Please know tanneries try to ensure colors are consistent batch to batch. BUT, other than black, such is almost impossible. I order up to 4 hides of each color and I know at least one will be either lighter or darker. If you know you want a full setup, belt, mag carrier and holster, and have OCD like me, I recommend ordering them at the same time. This is not for profit, this is just a fact I want to make perfectly clear.
Regarding laminating exotic hides on top of each other... The more you add, the thicker you will make the holster. The exotics are not a "base" hide. They are too soft and too thin.
My last comment is not meant to offend but it is a monthly request. If you want your order to match your boots, belt or holsters from another maker, I do not do that. What you see is what I carry. My hides are dyed at the tannery. Black is the only color I hand dye. I like my bit of kit to match as well, but such just isn't in my wheelhouse.
